North Shore Players featured member

Eric Bates

Here Eric is seen in our last show HONK! playing the Bullfrog, amongst other roles.

Eric came to us by chance, about three years ago, and now leaves us (headed back to California) all too soon.  He quickly became one

of the North Shore Players most reliable comic characters.  He first appeared with NSP in May of 2007 as Mr. Thorkelson in I remember Mama.

Then in Oklahoma!  Eric took a shot of playing Ali Hakim, the a Persian peddler being both a shrewd salesman and great one for the girls, but not too adept at avoiding shotguns.  He played multiple characters in Bye Bye Birdie, and then Mr. Stanley in The Man Who Came to Diner.  Just this past November he played the Bullfrog, and Turkey in Honk!  Regardless of his roles, he has always played them with a certain flair and forceful projection that sets the standard for others actors to strive for.   Born, and raised in Massachusetts, he has lived in California for 35 years where he acted with the Vallejo California Music Theatre in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Oliver.  Eric kept up his musical standards by frequently participating in Karaoke nights out with the group.  He's a natural crooner who never misses a note.  He will be missed, and we hope somewhere down the road our paths will cross again.

Please enjoy this flash back from I Remember Mama that has Eric playing the timid Mr. Thorkelson:
